Elijah Morton breaks the world record in Valdosta Georgia this week at the Competition Plus Eastern Spring Test Nationals by recording the top speed of 224.48 MPH in his 2007 Ford RJ ZX2 readied by Allen Competition Engines. The current world record is 223.95.
"If we are able to hit this speed in a national competition we'll be the new record holder", says driver Elijah Morton. "I know that Allen Competition Engines has worked all winter on my engines with one goal in mind, that is to make sure we stand out above the rest this year, and if we set a new world record, they will be the ones to thank".
No doubt this speed sets the bar for the rest of the drivers and has built a great deal of excitement and momentum for the Morton Motorsports team. "I said we would be the one's to watch and after this week there is no doubt we can take the lead for 2008 at the first national event" said Glen Morton co-owner. |
