MORTON TAKES IT TO THE SEMIS AT FIRST RACE IN TEXAS
SAN ANTONIO, TX - After
only a dozen passes on his new Jerry Haas Cobra, Morton qualified # 2 after it all was done. "Gary Henry and company is really getting a handle on what this car likes and I'm pleased with the way we are performing to date. Glen keeps the motor checked out and Gary takes
care of the setup in the clutch. Violet and Kim help with the parachute and cleaning the car as well as fixing some nice meals. Jennifer helps with towing the car to the starting line. Dexter handles the big task of getting the rig to and from the track as well as other duties. That gives me the atmosphere in which I can concentrate on driving. I felt I had a car that could win, but lost lane choice in the 3rd round. Despite a starting line advantage, we lost in the semi's by .011 ( about 3 ft.). We are excited about our program and feel we can be a contender for the championship."

The car is silver all over right now, but look for a new paint scheme at the Rock, as it was dropped off at the paint shop on the way back from San Antonio. Morton and team are looking for big things at their home track as they will have lots of family and friends to join them at the track for the annual pig-picking and of course, racing. He is happy about being 3rd in points at this period in the season and hopes to step it up a notch at the next race in Rockingham.
